What's involved in being a member of Gardiner Street Gospel Choir

  • The choir year runs from late August to mid June.
  • Weekly rehearsal every Tuesday 7.30-9.30pm, changing to 8.00-9.30pm after your first year.
  • Monthly Mass every fourth Sunday with a 1 hour rehearsal beforehand (6.30pm - 8.30pm).
  • Extra gigs/performances throughout the year, potentially with extra rehearsals in the lead up to these events.
  • Ability to read sheet music not a requirement but definitely an advantage in getting up to speed with our repertoire.
  • Any stage experience, particularly in music and dance is also an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Members pay a membership fee in two instalments during the choir year.
  • You must be over 18 years of age.
  • Attendance is recorded at every rehearsal, Sunday mass and concert and an excellent attendance record is required to maintain membership.

At Gardiner Street, we've been very lucky to always have a superb live band accompany us pretty much everywhere we sing. Our wonderfully talented ensemble consists of piano, guitar, bass, keyboards, sax, strings and percussion and lead by the super talented Michael Fay.

  • Right now, we are in need of a bass player. So if you are interested and can play the bass guitar, contact us!
  • The choir year runs from late August to early June.
  • Just like choir members, the band give their time and skills on a voluntary basis.
  • There is no membership fee for band members.
  • You must be over 18 years of age.
  • Required to play at the monthly Sunday mass in Gardiner Street church with an hour's rehearsal beforehand, all in running from 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
  • Ability to read sheet music not a requirement but definitely an advantage in getting up to speed with our repertoire.
  • Extra gigs/performances throughout the year, with extra rehearsals in the lead up to these events.
